There are certain lyrics that really irritate me and these really do –“Abracadabra” the 12th studio album by The Steve Miller Band came out on my 28th birthday back in 1982 and is on the face of it a very long way from the albums The Steve Miller Band made in the 1960’s. The title track, annoying lyrics and all, was a huge hit – Number 2 over here, number 1 in The States. Well, the lyrics still irritate me but the album version of “Abracadabra” guitar work, sound effects and Beatle-like hooks is terrific. Steve Miller was always a Beatles fan – McCartney plays on the “Brace New World” album and Steve Miller always played pop influenced rock….
